Silicone, plastic and steel: compare the whole mold

A material name alone does not explain how a mold behaves. Read the mold body, support rack, lid and stick as separate parts.

Map the components

List the material of the food-contact cavity, the support, the lid and the stick. A product described as silicone can still have other components. If an exact polymer is absent from a source, we mark it as not confirmed rather than assigning one from the appearance.

Read release instructions first

Flexible formats may peel or squeeze; rigid individual molds may use a warm-water rinse. Follow the instructions for the specific model. We have not timed release, compared breakage or measured how a material affects freezing.

Check cleaning and replacements

Find the stated washing method and check whether it covers the complete assembly. Look for replacement sticks or lids by exact model. A lost proprietary stick can matter more to your routine than a small difference in tray shape.
